Expungements
People sometimes make mistakes, especially when they are young and inexperienced. Many times, those mistakes result in an arrest and a criminal conviction. Having a criminal record can be devistating to your future and can cause loss of employment opportunities and other negative consequences which can stay with you for the rest of your life. While very few people are aware of it, there is a lawful means by which to forever erase a prior arrest and conviction record. That process is known as an "expungement". There are very few exceptions to expungement and, as a result, nearly everyone can qualify for an expungement and nearly every arrest and conviction record can be expunged. Once your prior arrest and conviction record is expunged, it is as though such record never existed in the first place. The significance of that is, if a prospective employer were to ask you if you had ever been arrested for and convicted of a crime, after an expungement you could lawfully and truthfully answer "no", since expungement forever erases and sets aside such arrest and conviction.
